NYX Rouge Cream Blush in Red Cheeks [review+swatches]

I'm a complete blush person and I'm reviewing one of my favorite blushes ever, the NYX Rouge Cream Blush in "Red Cheeks"!!

I am a great fan of NYX products, I have been using their Red Cheeks cream blush for quite a while now and love it a lot. I think they have great value with good price.

What NYX has to say:
Become the starlette Hollywood you were born to be! NYX Rouge Cream Blush provides natural, radiant, long lasting color to the cheeks due to a specially formulated, creamy formulation. Simply dab NYX Rouge Cream Blush onto skin with fingertips to emulate the look of natural, youthful skin.
More delicious than peaches and cream? We like to think so. Our velvety smooth mineral Rouge Cream Blush offers a sheer wash of radiant color. The glorious payoff is dewy, sultry and long-lasting. Available in cream blush 12 shades.
Net WT. 0.12oz (3.5g)

Comes in a round flat plastic compact which has a transparent lid and is opaque black on the bottom. One big CON is that the packaging is not very sturdy, the transparent part of the lid unhinged from one side with the slightest pressure and that really distressed me:/

Review and Swatches:
The color's an amazing red, more kind of pink-ish red, it's like a dream blush the color appears so rich on your skin that you cannot help loving it. It can give you a dramatic look or give you naturally rosy cheeks like you've been out in the cold; the choice is yours depends really on how far you'd want to go with it because most cream blushes are super pigmented. So I'd suggest you go for layering rather than applying the cream blush in one go and ending up like a clown escaped from a circus:/
Many people use stippling brushes and Q-tips or fingers to pick up and apply the cream blushes, I use my blush brush. I follow Nurberxo's method of applying this, I'm sharing her tutorial below, she's one of my most favorite beauty vloggers, I love evrything about her videos.

You can apply it with your fingers too but that's bound to get messy, try applying 3-4 dots of cream blush on your cheek bone with the help of Q-tips [earbuds in common language], then pat with your fingers until it's seamlessly blended. If you go overboard with the color you may tone it down with transparent loose powder or if you want to make the application long lasting, you can top up your cream blush with a powder blush!

Where to apply your blush:
Some tips on how you can apply your blush are:
  • Start from the center of your iris “eye” and go upwards towards the temple. The blush should blend into your hairline.
  • Always blend your blush upwards, towards the temples. Smile and apply the blush by circling the apples of the cheeks with the brush and then sweep upwards.
Here is Nurberxo's tutorial on how to apply cream blush:

Take a look at the swatches, this one's with flash and the one below is in natural light.

    Why you should buy it:
    • If you like cream blushes.
    • The formula is soft and creamy and glides evenly on your cheeks, without going patchy.
    • Build-able so it’s easier to work with.
    • Good quantity, you get a lot of blush in the pan.
    • You have lots of blush shades to choose from. Check HERE
    • Good price.

    Why you should leave it:
    • If you would rather avoid the hassle of online orders due to unavailability in Pakistan.
    • If you don't like intense colors and prefer more natural pinks.

I think those of you who haven't tried cream blushes as yet should give the NYX rouge cream blushes a try. These blushes have some great shades especially for people with normal or dry skin. If you have oily skin you can top it off with powder blush to give a good matte effect.

    Tell me what you think?
