Maybelline Colossal Kajal [Review]

I'm reviewing the much hyped about Kajal by Maybelline, the Colossal Kajal. Promises to deliver a 6H + staying power and an intense blackness. Keep reading to find out how true I found these claims to be.

What Maybelline New York claims:
Our deepest black pigments + unique tip deliver the blackest black shine ever. Color glides on smooth and so intense. Formula enriched with Vitamin E soothes the eyes. Never before 6H of smudge resistant wear. Our exclusive color fix formula guarantees intense color results that won't smudge, budge or fade. No more touchups.

I got it in my Secret Beauty Swap!

My Thoughts:
I got this in my Beauty Blogger Swap; which was organized by PBBC, as a swap present from the lovely Areej Usman. I came across it online several times but not being a kajal person much I didn't pay much attention thinking that it would probably be the last thing I'd buy but ironically it has become one of my favorite products all thanks to Areej! This is probably one of the best things about a swap in the first place, that you get to try different products that another makeup junkie chooses for you.

The packaging is extremely eye-catching, the yellow color with black text looks cute and stands out amid all my eye liners and pencils. The color is Black/Noir written on the sticker on the cap which also has the barcode. It has a twist up mechanism which I like but sadly there's no sharpener included to sharpen the tip which is pointed at first obviously but quickly becomes blunt and rounded with use. Houses around 1.5 inches of the product which is quite enough for the price you pay.
The texture of the kajal is very soft and smooth, it glides really smoothly during aplication and delivers a nice intense black color which can be built up to your required intensity.

I'm not much of a kajal-on-the-waterline person but still for try-outs I applied this to my waterline first to check the staying power and wasn't impressed much, it stayed stayed on for hardly 1.5 hours maybe [I don' have very water-y eyes either]. However I love to line my eyelids with this, and it doesn't budge for upto 7-8 hours on there so it's a winner that way. People with oily lids could do good with an eyelid primer first because it smears as the skin gets greasy.

It's a great on-the-go kajal to use everyday especially for those long days. I find myself reaching for it almost everyday because of it's non-smudging nature. There is no discomfort in wearing this kajal, my eyes do not itch or anything and being water-proof it has to be removed preferably with an eye makeup cleanser, I use the Johnson's baby oil to remove it.
The best part is the price ofcourse, very affordable and easily available.

  1. Great review. I like it on my lids more than on my waterline. It is not as black as I want for my waterline, but great on my oily lids. xx

  3. Hi sweety, your eyes look beautifully defined with this liner, we don't get anything like it here, was the kajal released only in certain countries? I've never tried something similar myself, but it does look really lovely.
