MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter [Review]

After waiting for so many months, ever since the Undress Your Skin was launched by Makeup Academy, I finally managed to get my hands on one of the most coveted and hyped about product in the range which is the Shimmer Highlighter, yay! :)

Makeup Academy Claims:
Undress your Skin Highlighting Powder is a lightweight baked powder designed to provide sheer coverage and a radiant soft-focus effect to transform your complexion with luminescence shimmer. The Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder perfects any look by creating a natural, healthy glow that is suitable for all skin tones.
Application: After applying primer and or foundation dust the Highlighting Powder on the top of the cheek bones for a sculpted look that lifts the cheeks and adds definition.

My Thoughts:
The packaging is sturdy and sleek. I like the transparent lid which enables product visibility. Infact I adore the new white colored theme of the entire Undress Your Skin collection. Contains 7.5gm of product which can last for a long time as the pigmentation is great, so a little goes a long way. Available in only one color.

When I held it in my hand for the very first time, I was really impressed with the huge size of the compact, the product looks amazing , the embossed wavy design very much like the MAC Extra Dimension range! The color appears a frosty pale pink more on the gold side in the packaging and so I was expecting an amazing champagne shimmer but when I swatched it, it gave a silver-y palest pink shimmer with a purple hue [which was unexpected] and I'll admit I was a little disappointed. BUT only for a little while. The trick is to apply with a very light hand, with a fan brush preferably, I use the MUA Duo Fibre Stippling Brush. A heavy swatch would give off that purple-ish hue!

The texture is a bit dry to touch but if you swipe your finger across it, the product comes off smooth and blends beautifully leaving behind a subtle glow. It works best with a pink blush I feel, infact it looks super awesome! Not bad with the peach/orange ones either. I swipe it on the top of my cheekbones, nose bridge, cupid's bow and chin. The overall effect on the face is STUNNING! A subtle but all glow-y and healthy looking skin. It doesn't make my pores look any more prominent then they already are which is probably one of the best things about a highlighter.

It stays on the face for minimum 5 hours for sure on my normal-dry skin. I could still see a bit of sheen at night when I was taking off my makeup which was 9 hours later without being reduced to glitter. So not bad at all!

The Cons:
Mine got a tiny crack; about one centimeter, in the gorgeous wavy pattern without any trauma [that I can remember] :/ and it has a limited range, I wish MUA would bring more shades in this especially a champagne color!

Overall I'd say that MUA has once again won me over with a great quality product at the greatest-there-could-be price!!

  8. Hi sweety, I love the look of this highlighter, great palette design. I would be worried about my skin looking too shiny when applying it, is this a problem or does it look quite natural?
