TOPSHOP LIPS IN BRIGHTON ROCK AND OOH LA LA [Review]

I'd read about the Topshop products on various blogs and as usual the lipsticks made it to my wishlist. A dear friend in UK was sending some lovely things and asked if I wanted anything in particular. After going through loads of online swatches I decided upon these two colors in their velvet lipsticks range.

TOPSHOP Claims:
Velvet finish lipstick to smooth, moisturise and nourish lips. Apply for fabulous colour and moisturised, matte finish, wear alone or with gloss for a shiny finish.

My Thoughts:
Although I love the monochorome packaging of these, it does tend to get grubby very quickly, which you can tell from the second picture if you look closely at the area around the color sticker of both lipsticks. Thinking of...those round color stickers come in really handy when I'm rummaging around for any one of them. Otherwise the feel of the packaging is nice and sturdy.
The texture is creamy matte and pigmented, the color is buildable and very slightly glossy on the lips though it doesn't seem so in the arm swatch. These do feel dry initially but are totally comfortable to carry once applied, feel completely weightless. I have to drag them a bit on my non-prepped lips to get a wash of color, but on prepped lips or over a lipbalm putting these babies on is a breeze.
Brighton Rock is a warm fuchsia pink color and Ooh La La is a pale orange leaning just a bit towards coral. The staying time of Brighton Rock is longer than Ooh La La, which fades quickly within 2 hours.
Overall the colors are really pretty and totally spring/summer-y and I'm definitely going to be getting a whole lot of use outa these!!

  3. Such pretty colors. How do they look on u? Can u put up pics of urself wearing it. The packaging is similar to tarte lipsticks. They look so pretty but I wud rather have plastic packaging that can handle being bullied in the bag with my other stuff without getting damaged

    1. The packaging is metal and hence quite sturdy but gets dirty quickly. I have posted pictures of me wearing these on instagram :) x
